This year, Jersey was represented in the Duo Normond by a number of teams from both the Caesarean Cycling Club and Velo Sport Jersey. The Duo Normand is a 2 up team time trial staged over a distance of 54 km of rolling French countryside. It regularly attracts amateur and professional teams alike from various countries including France and the UK.

A number of riders were competing in this annual event for the first time and experienced perfect cycling conditions - sunny and dry though the road surface was at times less than ideal. Despite this, the organisation of the event was very professional and the hospitality shown to us by the people of Marigny, warm and generous. Closed roads, team support vehicles, motorised escorts and cheering spectators. Fantastic.

As there were over 400 teams entered for the event, the first teams were started racing at 8.30am - others would still be setting off late into the afternoon. All the Jersey teams performed well, many recording personal best times. Particular mention should go to the pairing of Steve Greig and Mike Harris who finished second in their category with an impressive time of 1 hr 18 mins 7 secs. With a personal best time of 1 hr 35 mins 8 secs, the Caesarean 'senior' pairing of Sam Goulding and Malcolm Armes 'smashed' their previous time (set during last year's race) by over 4 minutes. The ladies also performed well, with the mixed club pairing of Helen Goulding and Sue Munns finishing 7th in their category with a time of 1 hr 15 mins 23 secs. All local teams escaped the race without any technical difficulties apart from Velo Sport's Mike Mitchinson, who suffered two flat tyres late in the race and Caesarean's Steve Goaziou who had to stop in order to tighten his handlebars!
