The Autumn series was off to a flying start with 59 entries for the first race. Perfect conditions for rider and spectator alike made for a great season opener at Jardin d’olivet which is always a popular venue.
The days racing got underway with the 5 and under class with 5 entries, including newcomer Robyn Kemp. George Daniels led the class away and maintained the lead to the finish in the boys group with Billy Malzard in fine form taking 2nd place. Katie Le Rougetel was top girl with Robyn in 2nd spot.
In the 6&7 year old class there was a field of 10 riders which made for exciting racing. In the boys group Oliver Daniels made it a great day for the Daniels brothers with a solid performance for the victory and not far behind was Thomas Boarer in 2nd place who was pushing hard and in 3rd was Samuel Smith. Aimee Lutz was top girl with a gritty ride taking 1st place and Sofia Furness riding well to take 2nd place.
The 8&9 year old, the largest group of the day with 20 riders was set to be a good race with a mix of experience and enthusiasm. Such was the anticipation that there were 2 false starts! Once underway it was Jack Lutz, showing his fitness who lead with a lightening start. Enjoying the course Jack pushed on for race victory followed by Ben Le Rougetel who kept up the work rate for an excellent 2nd spot. Luc Mon Petit Le Brun was not far behind in 3rd. In the girl’s class, the crowd witnessed possibly the closest finish between all of the riders! Indi Malzard led the way to victory but was pushed by Evie le Breton 2nd, Sabine Minchinton Gilley in 3rd, Aimee Banks 4th and Adele Maher 5th. This looks to be an exciting class championship.
In the 10/11, now with a class size of 16 riders it was Sam Maher who set the wining pace. Harry Garnham had led for one lap but had to settle for 2nd and Jacques Stead rode a controlled race for 3rd. Michael Milner had looked good for a podium finish but unfortunately crashed in the technical wooded section. Felix Ashcroft also had steady race to record 4th. In the girls class Amber Smith was immediately up to pace with a good ride taking 1st place with Emma McGinley in 2nd and Tori Perchard taking 3rd place.
The 12-14 year old age group had 8 entries and this year was open with reigning class champion George Milner concentrating on road racing. Ben Le Brocq laid down his claim to the title with a great race victory but Oliver Lowthorpe was keeping him honest with a strong performance in 2nd. Ryan O’Shea worked hard to secure 3rd from Hugh Percival taking 4th.
