Banter on the 6/7 year old start line
The 3rd race of the Autumn series was held at Les Platons where riders and spectators are normally greeted with wet and windy conditions. A more technically challenging, dry and loose surface was however the order of the day which made for some exciting racing in all classes.
In the 5 and under class, George Daniels was soon into his stride and pulled away from the tussling Billy Malzard and Sonny Bertram, with Sonny eventually forging ahead for 2nd place. In the girls class it was a battle of the Katie’s with newcomer Katie Le Gros making Mountain Biker dad, Paul Le Gros very happy with a great win. Katie Le Rougetel was 2nd and the two other new riders Aimee and Lilly Hawley were also having a great race finishing 3rd and 4th respectively.
In the 6&7 year old class there was a field of 12 riders eager to get underway. Oliver Daniels made it a double victory for the Daniel boys with a commanding victory followed by Greg Hawley taking a great 2nd place and Malo Monpetit-Le Brun in 3rd. The two Aimee’s were carrying the charge for the girls and Aimee Lutz showed good pace to win and was in fact 4th overall with Aimee Hugh 2nd.
The 8&9 years old class with 18 riders was perhaps the most exciting race of the day with some very close riding between the top 3 boys. It was Jack Lutz who saved the best until last, really putting the hammer down in the later stages of the race for a deserved victory. Ben Le Rougetel was also in top form taking 2nd with Luc Monpetit-le Brun close behind in 3rd. The girls class was equally as exciting with Indi Malzard fastest away. It was Adele Maher showing the best stamina to come through on lap 3 to lead to victory, Indi maintaining 2nd and the consistent Evie Le Breton in 3rd.
In the 10&11 year age group Sam Maher was finding the track to his liking and took victory but Harry Garnham was no slouch in 2nd and Jacques Stead rounded out the top 3. In the Girls class Amber Smith was on the case with Emma McGinley suffering a sketchy start in 2nd.
In the top age group, the 12-14 year class, Ben Le Brocq was in dominating form with a solid performance over the longer course taking 1st place. Oliver Lowthorpe was pushing on well to finish 2nd with Ryan O’Shea taking a well deserved 3rd spot. In the girls class it was Charlotte Turner’s turn to take top spot relegating Jade Ward to 2nd, a reverse of the result in the last race.
