2007 Islands Games (28aug06)
Here's information for Island Games' hopefuls

Tour de Bretagne help required (26jan07)
Jersey hosts this highly prestigious, French, cycle event as it leaves the frontiers of Brittany for the first time in its history to stage the Prologue; a 4.7km time trial along Victoria Avenue. With 120 professional and amateur riders who will race at speeds in excess of 60km/h starting the event which continues with a road race from St. Malo the following day. Previous winners of the race have gone on to become Tour de France champions. ESC have written to both cycling clubs requesting team 'chaperones' and although the information is sketchy at the moment, if you're interested please contact Gordon Wright

Heartbeat Cycle Challenge (21feb07)
Here is information from Pete Wickham of Wessex Heartbeat regarding their 500 mile, 3 day relay for teams of 4 riders in France. Wessex Heartbeat, the organising charity, supports the Wessex Cardiac Unit in Southampton, the local cardiac unit for Jersey children born with serious heart disease.

UCI World Cup, Manchester Velodrome, February 2007 (13mar07)
Eight CCC members travelled to Manchester Velodrome for the last round of the UCI World Cup.

As tribute to CCC member, Tony Richomme a memorial stone has been laid at Les Quennevais.

Four riders are travelling to Norfolk this week for the first round of the British Mountain Bike X Country Championships

British Mountain Bike Cross Country Championships, Round 1 (18apr07)
Robin Ovenden, Kieron Mills and James Patterson gained valuable experience and race training in preparation for the Island Games in Rhodes.

Tour de Bretagne comes to Jersey (24apr07)
Le Tour de Bretagne is set to stretch its boundaries beyond France this year and reach the British Isles, marking its 40th year by including Jersey in its route. In the past, the competition has been held exclusively in Brittany, but on 25th April 2007 a 4.7km time trial will be staged along Jersey's Victoria Avenue to mark the start of the race. The race will continue the following day back on home ground through Brittany from St. Malo.

Sarah Smith travelled to Britanny to compete in a women's road race facing a large field.

British Mountain Bike Cross Country Championships, Round 2 (17may07)
Jersey Island Games team Mountain bike members, Robin Ovenden, Kieron Mills and James Patterson, as well as reserve cyclist Adam Wojkiewicz travelled to tackle the Second Round of the British XC Mountain Bike Series in Sherwood Forest, Nottingham.

Norman Clayton (21may07)
It was with sadness that we reported that long serving club member Norman Clayton died on 18 May 2007 after a long illness.

National 10m Time Trial Championships (22may07)
Helen Goulding was the only Channel Islands' competitor in this year's National '10'

British Mountain Bike Cross Country Championships, Round 3 (7jun07)
Jersey Island Games team Mountain bike member Robin Ovenden proved to be very much in form with two strong performances in the British Mountain Bike Series.

National 25m Time Trial Championships (22may07)
As for the National 10, Helen Goulding was the only Channel Islands' competitor in this year's National 25

Island Games - Rhodes June/July (8jul07)
The Island Games' team return to the island bringing with them six medals

Norman Clayton Memorial Club Run (8jul07)
Over 60 riders from both clubs turned out for a club run in memory of Norman Clayton who died in May.

British Mountain Bike Cross Country Championships, Round 4 (31jul07)
Robin Ovenden, Kieron Mills, Adam Wojtkiewicz, James Patterson, and Rhys Hidrio travelled to Newnham Park in Plymouth where they competed in the National Mountain bike XC Championships, and also Round 4 of the National Marathon Series.

Helen Goulding travelled to the UK again this weekend, this time to take part in the British Time Trial Championships in Cheshire

VTTA Championships, September 2007 (9sep07)
The Club President, Allan Miller, recorded a swift 1.11.21 (a personal best by 1.27) in the Vtta 30 mile time trial Championships held on a course based on the A50/A516 near Derby on 8 September 2007 ---this time is the equivalent of a long '59 for a 25---or six sub-twelve minute '5s     He also managed to drag himself out the following morning to ride the Reading CC 10 on the old A4 near Aldermaston and recorded a long 24---the noises that troubled him during Sunday morning's agonising effort were discovered not to be coming from the bike when he eventually dismounted at the race HQ!

The total amount donated to Jersey Hospice in Norman's memory was £2529.90

Chris Spence Tours Bermuda (17sep07)

Anthony Nolan Challenge, 23 September 2007 (28sep07)
Whilst many riders travelled to France for the Duo Normand, over twenty road and mountain bike members took part in the Anthony Nolan Challenge. As always the event was well organised with some riders saying they were there so they could tuck into the home made cakes at the finish. Perhaps the organisers should mention the food in their publicity next year as an added incentive. Whatever the reason for being there over £20,000 was raised for the Anthony Nolan Trust. [TH]

Mountain Bikers go cross-training (14nov07)
Hold on to your hats, top Mountain Bikers Bruce Dingle and Kieron Mills have been selected to under go training for the Jersey bobsleigh team. Their training will commence next month in Calgary, Canada with the British Army and if all goes well they will then go to Austria to fine tune their down hill skills with the ultimate aim being the Winter Olympics. Do the Army know what they are taking on? Will bobsleigh ever be he same again? Will Bruce forget that you can use the brakes? Best wishes and we're sure you will do the Island proud. [TH]

Le Tour de France 2008 - Brittany Stages Trip (15nov07)

Paris-Brest-Paris (29nov07)
