| Chris Spence continues his run of bad luck with the weather getting the better of him this week. Spence was in action racing the national B black downs GP. From the off the race was plagued with high winds and torrential rain. The course included a demanding climb that on lap one saw a break of 7 escape while also splitting the bunch in two with 40 odd riders being dropped. Spence riding near the front was comfortably sitting in the chase group. As the laps counted down the break reduced to 3 riders and spence was in a chase group of 12. The weather and climb had really got rid of most riders. With 2 to go of the 5 covered spence started to suffer with the cold and was having difficulty changing gear and breaking effectively which is never a good sign and with one lap to go spence was forced to retire after being so cold and shivering for the last 30 minutes.
"I was understandably dissappointed with my group going for 4th but I had got so cold my body was shutting down and just before retiring I witnessed two riders crash just because of cold hands and slow reaction times. It's been a long time since I was that cold."
