Chris Spence was back in action at the weekend competing in the National B Worcester News Road race held over 75 miles. The event had a full field with the organiser having to turn riders away on the day hoping to get an entry on the line. With it being only one of two Nat B road races in the country some of the UK’s better Elites turned up including Tony Gibb, Tom Barras and Matt Stephens to name a few. The circuit was a disappointing relatively flat one considering the event was being held next to the Malvern hills! The nature of the course led to some very fast racing with initial speeds hovering around 30 mph with the eventual average being 26.8mph. Eventually at half distance a group clipped off and established a small lead of just over a minute, unfortunately Spence missed the break but the bunch was not willing to let the break go with riders constantly trying to bridge the gap. On the last lap of 19km the lead was coming down quickly and looked like it was going to end in a bunch sprint. The break was literally caught as they were starting their sprint for the line causing quite a lot of confusion and chaos in the bunch. Spence eventually finished a disappointing 24th not being able to find a clear path through at the finish.

Spence would like to thank the CCC for their continued support.
