News Archives

We used to publish newsletters every few months but the website made them redundant. However, you'll find some older ones here (from 2001 and 2002) and a news archive of sorts covering 2001 to the present day.

If you'd like to contribute an item to the website we'd be happy to include it. Just send it to info@ccc.je.

Here's information on current and future events:

The Club is looking to increase the number of First Aiders available at the races. As you are probably aware it is a requirement of the ESC to have a First Aider present at all track events and it’s also considered best practice of both CTT and BC. If you are willing to attend one of the courses below (All expenses paid) please let Colin Perry know ASAP cwperry@localdial.com. Alternatively if you are already a qualified First Aider please inform him. Course dates:18th Oct 0930-1630, 15th Nov 0930-1630 and 9th & 10th Dec 1800-2100.

Now here's a challenge: Simon Fenton is thinking of organising a trip to do the Marmotte next year (pencilled in for Saturday 4 July 2009). Accommodation gets booked up quickly hence we need to act now. If you're interested get in touch: fenton@localdial.com - Even those who have already expressed an interest to him need to confirm. This is not an event to be taken lightly - you'll probably have to plan your entire season's training around it so you'll need to be commited and willing to suffer - suffer a great deal. Read this - It's not a holiday.

Saturday Club Runs: From Saturday 2 August, the Saturday club run will revert to its old start time of 9am - meeting at La Mare on the St. Clement's coast road, as usual. This will be a leisurely ride, following the regular route ending up at Maillard's café in St. Mary. Everyone welcome.

For those who have interest in selection for the Island Games and Commonwealth Games, here's some important information from the JCA on the selection criteria for both potential riders and team managers.

Can you help? It is a long time since the club held a 100 Mile Time Trial but there is a very distinctive trophy for this event known as the Chemico Bowl which is made of pewter and is about nine inches in diameter. It has been missing for some considerable time but we would very much like to trace it. If you know its whereabouts (you may be the last winner of the 100m TT?) please let Torty know.
